Owner/Director (Member C.D.T.A.) Tap/Musical Theatre While growing up, Linda always dreamt of owning her own dance school. Now with 20+ years of having her own studio, she is proud to live her dream every waking moment. Dance has been an important part of Linda's life since she was just 8 years old. Although her mom encouraged her to figure skate, she convinced her she was going to be a dancer! Her first class was tap in a basement of all places! She was told not to buy tap shoes to start, but at the end of the first class the instructor told her mom "get this one taps right away!" She hasn't looked back since - now sharing her passion with her own two daughters. Although Linda took years of group, solo, and duo lessons in disciplines across the board including Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Stage, Song and Dance, and Acro, it was Stage and Tap that stayed close to her heart to this very day. Tap because of the musicality of the discipline and Stage because of her love of becoming a character for the audience. She has performed in some incredible numbers over the years with some great laughs as well. Like being stuffed to look like Miss Piggy or her mom sewing on 800 feathers for her Big Bird solo. Competitions were always lots of fun for her, rather than just a competition. She always made wonderful friends and acquaintances, some she still sees from time to time. Her personal accomplishments on the dance floor involved: competing regularly in the Coquitlam and Surrey Dance Festivals (the only dance festivals around back in those days!) always coming home with 1st, 2nd, or 3rd for all her numbers, completion of all C.D.T.A. Tap Examinations with Honours for all and pass with distinction for Gold Star, completion of several Jazz, Stage, and Acro examinations, becoming a member of the C.D.T.A. (Stage Division), B.C. Provincial representative for two years and runner-up once for participating in the B.C. Festival of the Arts in Kamloops, Penticton, and U.B.C., attended numerous dance-oriented workshops around BC and United States, regular participant at Kitsilano Showboat in her earlier dance years, being part of a Youth 50's Group that incorporated singing, dancing, and acting, modeled and danced in a variety of fashion shows, participating in the Opening of Grey Cup '84, Opening and Closing Ceremonies of Expo '86 as well as performing in groups and solos at Expo on stage, Opening Ceremonies of the B.C. Summer Games in Maple Ridge, participated in the Miss Teen Vancouver pageant where she even won an award for... you guessed it, dancing! Linda Carter
